Algebra Tutors Save the Day

With algebra tutors...
that notoriously dreaded subject need not be feared!
Do you have a fear of algebra?
Well... algebra tutors may be the answer....

For many junior high school students, the word algebra conjures up visions of indecipherable numbers. From sixth grade through seventh, eighth, and ninth, this subject carries a mystique like no other math discipline.

Why is it so frightening? And more than that, what can be done about it?

With online math tutoring and chat based university sites, help can indeed be on its way. A good algebra tutor can teach the fundamentals—problem solving, formulas, and variables. But what works best about high school math tutoring, is its ability to get a student over that fear hump.

Once a student develops a different relationship to math, whether it’s algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, or college math, they will be able to sail through other difficult subjects.

Fear of algebra is as much a mind set as it is a fact. Many girls find themselves quite good at it, although they often would never believe themselves capable of breezing a subject like this.

My own situation was much like that. My brother was the math ace. So I believed. He could have been a college math tutor when he was in just 10th grade. He did go on to quite a distinguished career in the technology world, so there was something to it.

But lo and behold, I found that I also had a natural aptitude for math. I found out the hard way, and looking back, had I been brave enough to seek some good tutoring to get me through the initial fear in math classes, no doubt my confidence would have grown much faster.

If I were you, I wouldn’t wait. I’d explore algebra and algebra 2 tutoring classes online. I’d check out the local college algebra tutoring facilities – college tutors are so enthusiastic, they often make great teachers. Another resource for tutoring services you might find is a math tutoring center in your local school, library, or YMCA.

One of the big hurdles in algebra is the problem solving aspect. You need to be able to thing through math abstractions, it takes reading comprehension and reasoning skills. Algebra tutors can talk you through these one-on-one. Private Tutors: Student

Working with someone who can explain a different way of thinking or reasoning can make all the difference.

It’s a little like going hand-in-hand with Alice through the looking glass. Once you get on the other side of an algebra equation, you’ll see it all makes sense.

Here are some of the math concepts you will need to grasp:

  • Word problems
  • Venn diagrams
  • Subtracting within complex equations
  • Place value
  • Percents
  • Orders of operations
  • Variables
  • Multiplication with variable values
  • Addition and subtraction within exponential powers

And here are some of the math fields that you can look forward to once you master basic algebra:

  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry
  • Precalculus
  • Calculus

Many people feel the world of math is obsolete, that computers can do it all for you. Not so. We all still need to understand the abstract reasoning and numbers manipulation that math affords us. Get a good algebra tutor early on.

And work with them. You never know where it may lead you!
