Believe it or not we are already half way through the month of November. Before you know it, it is going to be the new year and test season will be here. If you are considering applying to law school then one of the tests that you will need to take is the LSAT. The LSAT will evaluate your reasoning skills and your writing skills. Law schools will look at these scores to determine how prepared or suited you are for the challenges of law school.

Working with an LSAT tutoring service can be very beneficial. They are familiar both with the content of the LSAT and the test format. It is because of this that they will be able to set up a study program for you that will prepare you to take and pass the LSAT.

The first section of the test that your LSAT tutor will work with you on is the reasoning section. To prepare you for this section of the exam, your tutor will work with you on identifying the various reasoning philosophies and show you how to apply them to test questions and situations.

The second section of the test that your LSAT tutor will work with you on is the critical/analytical writing section. To prepare for this section of the exam, your tutor will teach you how to identify the focus of your essay and how to flesh it out and edit it quickly. This is the most important section of the LSAT, so make sure you have mastered the skills needed to do well here.

Today is Halloween and a day to have fun and dress up. If you are a tutor then today is a great day to infuse your lessons with a Halloween theme. For example, if you are tutoring math you can use bats, pumpkins and other Halloween themed objects to teach your students.

One activity that you can do with your reading students is to read Halloween themed stories. Today is the perfect day to explore stories like the Headless Horseman, the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and other Halloween favorites. Since many Halloween stories are kid favorites, these stories are great for teaching reading comprehension.

If you are tutoring math students today then counting activities can use Halloween candy pieces. For example, you can count using candy corns or chocolate coins. You can also teach shapes with Halloween candies. You may even want to try a Halloween art project using shape. For example, you can show your students how basic shapes are combined to make Halloween icons like pumpkins and witches.

If you are tutoring older students who are working with subjects that are not readily integrateable with Halloween themed activities, you can simply enhance your learning activities with Halloween props. For example, you can dress up or use a pumpkin shaped timer. Just have fun and keep today’s tutoring sessions highly “spirited.”

Last week we talked about questions you need to ask potential tutors to determine if they are right for you. This week I’d like to continue this discussion and talk about a few more questions that you can ask a potential tutor or tutoring service. These questions will help you to narrow down your tutoring options.

Question No. 1: Where do you offer your tutoring services?

This question is designed to determine if you have to go to your tutor or if they will come to you. Tutors that work in a tutoring center, from their home or from an office have some advantages. For example, they have a work station that is set up for easy learning and they have access to all of their tutoring supplies. However, for many students the tutor’s willingness to come to them is very important, especially for students that have disabilities that make mobility or new environments difficult to handle.

Question No. 2: How much do you charge?

This is another important question to ask a potential tutor or tutoring service. This question needs to be asked so you can determine if you can afford the tutor’s services. Tutoring services can range anywhere from $20 an hour to over $100 an hour, depending on the subject and the tutor. Travel charges may also be assessed.

Question No. 3: Do you offer test prep services?

If you are getting ready to take a big test, such as the SATs or the ACTs, then this is an important question to ask. Usually you will need to use a test prep specialist if you want a tutor to help you prepare for one of these tests.

If you are looking for more information about how to use a tutoring service to improve your academic or professional skills, then check out the Liz Strauss Blog.

If you are looking for a tutoring service then you need to evaluate all of your options before selecting one. There are many questions that you can ask a potential tutor to determine if they are right for you. This blog entry will present these questions.

Question No. 1: What subjects do you tutor?

This question is one of the most important questions to ask. It will determine if the tutor will be able to help you in the subject that you are interested in. It will also help you to gage if they are a general tutor or a subject specific tutor.

Questions No. 2: When are you available?

This question will help you to determine if the tutor’s schedule will work with your schedule. Obvious, for most students, tutoring services are going to either need to be scheduled after school or on the weekends. However, in-school tutoring sessions can also be worked out with your school, so don’t rule this out.

Question No. 3: What experience do you have?

This question will help you to determine how qualified the tutor is to tutor you in your chosen subject(s). This question can also be modified to determine their experience in specific skills such as what experience do you have in calculus or what experience do you have working with students who are dyslexic?

To determine what other questions are good to ask a potential tutor, visit the ECTutoring Blog. This is a great blog for both tutors and students.

Tutoring services can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. If you are a senior in high school this year then one of your graduating requirements is most likely going to be a community service project. If you have tutored in the past then consider meeting the requirements of this project by developing a tutoring club for students. This service will be offered free to students in your school or to students in local schools.

To set up a tutoring club you will need to talk to your student adviser. They will help you establish the framework for the club and the rules for offering your services to other students. They can also help you to find students to tutor.

Because this is a project for credit you will want to focus your tutoring services on a specific demographic of students. This will help you to evaluate the value of your community services. For example, you can target students in the special education program or you can target students that have been identified as “at-risk.”

After you have a focus for your tutoring club you will want to determine who you want to be tutors in your club. Usually you won’t have to do your senior community service project on your own, so you will have a group of students to work with. When selecting your project group pick students that have the ability to tutor other students.

Next, put together an outline for you project. This outline will highlight who you will be tutoring, when you will be tutoring and what subjects you will be tutoring. You can use this outline to help you write your final report. In your report remember to explain why you selected the parameters for your project and what need you are meeting with your services.

Home tutoring is a great option if you need a little extra help on a subject. This tutoring service can help you to explore a different aspect of the subject, it can help you to develop basic skills needed to progress in the subject or it can simply help you to catch up with your classmates. If you feel as if you are falling behind in class or if you feel like you need a little extra help, don’t be afraid to tell your teacher or your parents that you need help. One of the biggest challenges that parents and teachers face is figuring out when you need help and when you don’t.

If you feel like you need the help of a tutor then you first need to talk with your parents. They are a great resource for extra help. They may even be able to walk you through the subjects that you are struggling with. If they can’t help you then telling them that you need help will at least get the ball rolling in the right direction for finding you the help you need to be a successful student.

Another resource you can turn to when you are struggling with a subject is your teacher. Schools have the resources to find you a tutor or to modify your learning environment to help you to learn. They can set you up with a peer tutoring or a professional tutor, they can develop study plans that better suit your learning style and they can also test you to see if you have a learning disability like dyslexia. While it may sound a bit ominous, determining that you have a learning disability can actually be a good thing, as it will tell your teachers what modifications your education needs so that you can be successful.

What is the best type of tutoring service to use? You have a lot of choices to choose from. There are tutoring centers, private tutors, peer tutors and even online tutors. So how do you decide which one to use? Well the answer is that it depends on your learning style, your schedule and your budget.

The first tutoring service option that you have is to use a private tutor. A private tutor will usually come to your house, set up an individualized tutoring program and address the learning issues that you want to work on. The price for these services are going to range between $10 and $50 an hour, depending on what subject(s) you are interested in.

The second tutoring service option that you have is to go to a tutoring center. These centers are great if you are looking for well qualified tutors that have experience working on specific learning problems. These centers are great for both students that are struggling and students that are wanting to get ahead. They also work well for students trying to prepare for college entrance exams.

The third option that you have is to use an online tutoring service. These services are great because you can access them from your computer 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In addition to live chat tutoring sessions, you also are offered interactive online tools and resources that will help you to master your subject.

If you are looking for educational resources and tutoring resources then visit Kasamba’s Blog. This is a great online stop for people looking to learn more about the learning process.

There are many reasons why a tutoring service is a good option for students. However, not every student needs a tutor to help them overcome there learning challenges. Some students do just fine working things out for themselves, while others can get by with minor assistance from their parents, friends and teachers. However, in many cases minor and sporadic assistance is not enough for the student to overcome the root of their learning problems. This is why it is important to determine quickly if a tutoring service is the best option for your child.

The first thing that you need to do when determining if you or your child needs a tutoring service to help them overcome their learning challenges is to figure out how extensive the learning problem is. Look at how often the student has to ask questions in class, look at how many times a single process or topic has to be explained, look at how frequently the student seems to feel lost. If there is a chronic problem that is developing then a tutoring service is a great option.

The next thing that you need to do when determining if you or your child needs a tutoring services is to talk with the student about their learning challenges. If they feel that they are falling behind and that they don’t feel like they understand the material that is being presented in class then they may need a tutoring service. On the other hand, if the student feels that they are just having a little problem with a single or isolated issue then they may just need additional study materials or a quick one-on-one session with a peer tutor or the teachers to figure out the topic.

If you are looking for learning tools and tips then I recommend the Nicholls Educational blog. You’ll find great resources here.

There is a big demand right now for tutors. This demand has been caused by the growing number of cases of learning disabilities and developmental disabilities. If you are looking for a way to help your students to learn in the classroom, or to keep up with their classmates, then consider developing a peer tutoring program.

Peer tutoring programs can be used for just about any subject. They can be used for basic courses or more advanced courses. If you are trying to put together a peer calculus tutoring program then you may need to bring in older students or possibly even college students. If you use college students you can save money by setting up the program as an educational internship. This way the payment that the college student receives is teaching experience and college credit as opposed to cash.

The first thing that you need to do to put together a peer tutoring program is to figure out what resources you have. Start by surveying your students. Do you have gifted students who could be a positive role model for some of the students that are struggling? Next look at your need for tutoring services. For the most beneficial tutoring program you will want to look at both the tutoring needs for students who are struggling to the tutoring needs of gifted students. Finally, try to find connections between your tutoring resources and your need for tutors. You can fill in the gaps with outside tutors, teachers or parent helpers.

School is now back in session. This is the perfect time to think about an after school job. If you are a student who is patient, academically gifted and who is looking for an after school job, then consider starting a tutoring service. Tutoring services offered by students can be very lucrative businesses to run, and they can net you a much larger hourly rate then working fast food restaurants.

To set up your student tutoring service you will first need to figure out what subjects and grades you are qualified to tutor. Look at your areas of strength and focus on those areas. Then talk with your guidance counselor about what they think you are the most qualified to tutor. This meeting will have two objectives, (1) to find a focus for your business and (2) to generate word of mouth advertising for your business. After you talk to your guidance counselor they may recommend your services to parents looking for a tutor for their students.

To gain some experience, you may want to volunteer your tutoring services for a semester. During this semester you can learn how to break down a topic, how to work with students and how the tutoring process works. You can then use this experience to get paying jobs during the second part of the school year. You can expect to make between $10 and $20 an hour as a student tutor. The amount of money that you receive is going to depend a lot on where you live and what your market will support.
