Take Advantage of Language Tutoring and Tutors

Build Language Skills with Language Tutoring and Tutors
Building Foreign Language Skills

Foreign language skills are critical for students to develop if they plan on getting into college. Most colleges will require high school students to have at least two years of foreign language in order to qualify for admission. Because of this students are encouraged to start their foreign language education during their Freshman year.

If you want to give your child a competitive advantage in the race for college admission to the best schools, then you may want to encourage them to not only take four years of foreign language in school, but also supplement their high school language courses with foreign language tutoring. This will help them to develop both their foreign language skills and their English language skills.

Foreign language tutoring will need to work on building language skills sequentially. For the best results you will want to work with your child’s tutor to develop a tutoring program that follows the text materials being presented in class. You will also want to add on extra enrichment activities that provides your child with the chance to speak and hear conversational Spanish, German, or other foreign language that they are studying. This will help to reinforce the grammar lessons and it will help them to pick up the language quicker.

Language tutoring and tutors are great resources that your children can benefit from. When selecting a tutor make sure they have experience in the language you are interested in. For example, if you want your child to learn Spanish then select a Spanish tutoring service that uses native speakers of Spanish or that uses tutors with an extensive background in the language. This will help you to get the most out of your home tutoring sessions.
