Last week we talked about how you can improve your business’ bottom line by adding language tutoring services. This week I’d like to talk about how you can increase your business’ bottom line by adding online tutoring and tutors.
When you expand your tutoring business to include an online presence, you expand your potential client base exponentially without really increasing your expenses by a large margin. The costs that you will incur to expand your business online will include costs such as domain name registration, hosting fees, website design fees, SEO fees and website design software. However, you can cut many of these costs by learning how to manage and update your website on your own and by utilize freeware.
If you already have an online tutoring service set up, then you can expand your services by hiring tutors to staff your online tutoring service. These tutors can be scheduled to take questions from students during the hours when you are either not available or that you don’t want to work. This will allow you to offer your tutoring services to potential students 24 hours a day.
To make this option profitable you will need to either presell subscriptions to your tutoring services or develop a pay schedule that will keep your costs down. For example, during non-peak hours, midnight to six in the morning, you can hire an on-call tutor who is paid a stipend to remain available to answer questions, as well as a per minute wage that will compensate them for the actual time they spend helping students.
