LSAT Tutoring: Prepare for Your Legal Career
Believe it or not we are already half way through the month of November. Before you know it, it is going to be the new year and test season will be here. If you are considering applying to law school then one of the tests that you will need to take is the LSAT. The LSAT will evaluate your reasoning skills and your writing skills. Law schools will look at these scores to determine how prepared or suited you are for the challenges of law school.
Working with an LSAT tutoring service can be very beneficial. They are familiar both with the content of the LSAT and the test format. It is because of this that they will be able to set up a study program for you that will prepare you to take and pass the LSAT.
The first section of the test that your LSAT tutor will work with you on is the reasoning section. To prepare you for this section of the exam, your tutor will work with you on identifying the various reasoning philosophies and show you how to apply them to test questions and situations.
The second section of the test that your LSAT tutor will work with you on is the critical/analytical writing section. To prepare for this section of the exam, your tutor will teach you how to identify the focus of your essay and how to flesh it out and edit it quickly. This is the most important section of the LSAT, so make sure you have mastered the skills needed to do well here.
School is in session!
Now is the time for tutors to gear up for the new school year. algebra online tutoring will need to put together their arsenal of tools, games and reference materials to hit the ground running.
The first item in your algebra tutoring arsenal will be flash cards. These cards can be formula flash cards or problem flash cards. While you can buy these cards in an educational store or from an office supply store, you also have the option to make them yourself.
Next you will want to pick up items to model algebra problems with. Good problem modeling items will be small, colorful and easy to store in a plastic zipper bag. For example, gummy bears, erasers, tokens, poker chips and coins all work well for modeling algebra problems with.
Other supplies that you will want to stock up on include a dry erase board, dry erase markers, a tote basket to hold your supplies, manilla folders, printer labels and other school supplies. You will also want to pick up the latest algebra teaching manuals and text books. Finally, you will want to browse the Internet and print out hard copies of reference guides for algebra students.
After you have all of your supplies you need to organize your office for the new tutoring season. First you will want to set up student files for the new school year. This week I ran across a blog on Blog Education, that discussed the differences between face-to-face and online tutoring services. What I found intriguing about this post was that it presented the reality that online tutoring is a viable option for kids and adults, and will most likely replace face-to-face tutoring, at least to a significant degree, in the near future. However, is there a way for online tutoring services to improve the tutoring services that they deliver? The answer is yes.
First of all online tutoring services can help students learn by removing them from the confines of 2 dimensional textbooks and hard copy worksheets. They can instead utilize online interactive activities that thoroughly engage students in the learning process. Multimedia programs, interactive quizzes and video demonstrations can all be used to deliver tutoring sessions to students.
While online tools are great, I still feel that students need to be able to interact with their tutors on a one on one basis. Fortunately, the Internet can facilitate this via live chat sessions and via video conferencing. Many online tutoring services are already utilizing both of these tools.
Finally, online tutors need to work with school systems to develop education networks. Of course tutors who participate in these networks will have to pass background screenings and be qualified for the positions. These networks can then utilize district funds to provide students with after school and in school tutoring on demand.
The future of tutoring services can be found online. However, the technologies needed to make this transition are still being developed.

This week I’d like to talk about how online physics tutor can use physics science kits to teach physics concepts. These kits are relatively inexpensive, they can be used over and over again and they are a lot of fun. If you are a tutor who is trying to help a student understand a concept that they just can’t seem to grasp, then this strategy may work for you.
To start with you will need to find a physics science experiment kit that is appropriate for the age of the student you are working with. Each kit will have the recommended age range printed on the box. You can use this age range to determine which product to buy.
After you buy a kit you will want to try it out to see how it works before introducing it to your student. Once you understand the experiment you will need to develop a lesson plan for your tutoring session. The lesson plan will need to introduce the physics concept covered by the experiment, it will need to include the experiment and it will need to include follow up questions and supplemental information.
It is important that you reinforce what has been learned in all of your tutoring activities with follow up activities that refer back to the experiment. For example, you can develop follow up lesson plans that look at specific issues or concepts covered in the experiment. These lesson plans can include things like lectures, worksheets and follow up experiments and projects.

The summer is nearly over and the Fall tutoring season will soon begin. As you enjoy that last few weeks of summer you need to think about what tools you will need to tutor math students in the coming year. Below you will find a few options for tutoring resources that you can use to gear up for the busy season.
The first resource that tutors can use to find tools and ideas for tutoring math students are other tutor’s blogs, like Calculator Blog. These blogs provide ideas for assessing student’s skill needs and delivering education to them. You can also use these blogs as a platform to network with other tutors and to problem solve.
Another great resource that tutors can use is nature. As summer comes to a close gather souvenirs, rocks, shells and other natural items to help you teach match. These items can be used for counting games, to help demonstrate math problems or be used to teach money lessons.
Last minute tutoring seminars are also a great resource that you can take advantage of. These seminars are offered by tutoring companies, tutoring centers and educational institutions. These seminars are great because they develop your professional skills, put you in touch with other tutors in your area and because you can deduct the cost of these seminars from your state and federal income tax returns.
Finding resources for your tutoring business is fairly simple to do. You just need to keep your eyes and ears open, and be willing to put in the work required to obtain them.

It is hard to believe that school will be back in session in less than a month. Now is the time to make plans for tutoring services for the new school year because tutors still have slots available. For the best selection call your tutor or tutor service today.
If you aren’t sure what type of tutoring services your child will benefit from in the upcoming school year then contact your local Sylvan or other tutoring center for a free assessment. These assessments can be used to identify problem areas as well as areas of strength. Since you aren’t obligated to sign up for tutoring services after receiving the assessment, they can be a very valuable freebie.
In addition to free assessments, the end of the summer is a great time to set learning goals and objective. Goal setting sessions can be done at home, with the help of a tutor or with the help of your child’s IEP team. These goals need to identify both areas that your child wants to improve in and areas that they are just interesting in exploring. For example, a learning goal list may include things like: improve understanding of fractions, keep up with homework assignments and learn how to make slime using common household chemicals.
Education is an ongoing process that doesn’t stop when you graduate from high school or college. Like school kids, adults can also benefit from the help of a tutor. The end of the summer is a great time to talk with a tutor about picking up new professional skills, because many businesses experience a slow period during the month of August and you will have time to dedicate to learning something new.

Students are under a lot of pressure to perform each day of their academic careers. This pressure frequently leads many students to struggle with certain topics and concepts along the way. In most cases the student is able to work their way through the subject and advance on to the next academic challenge. However, is it better to allow a student to struggle through a challenge on their own, or is it better to help them?
The answer to the above question is not easy to answer. After all there are benefits for allowing students to work their own way through difficult academic problems, such as developing problem solving and reasoning skills, however, there are also benefits for acquiring a learning mentor to help guide the student through the process as well. Home tutoring services are a great option for talented students, average students and for students who are struggling with their coursework. These professionals will not “give” the student the answers, but will provide them with the tools to find the answers for themselves.
Online tutoring services are another option that students have. This help option is more convenient than the home tutoring or center based tutoring services because it can be accessed on demand, and in many cases school districts offer this type of service to their students for free. If you need a little extra homework help then this is the option for you.
Students of all ages occasionally need help studying, preparing for an exam or learning new skills. If you need GRE tutoring, SAT tutoring or public speaking tutoring, then seek the services of a professional tutor.

While we are still in the middle of summer, it is not too early to think about test taking season, which is just around the corner. This is the time to start putting together you LSAT tutoring promotions, recruitment flyers and tutoring materials. After all school will be starting up in less than two months and you need to leave time to get your materials to schools, learning centers, people on your mailing list and most importantly you need to leave time to design and print your materials.
SAT tutors have a lot of competition to deal with, especially if you have a tutoring center in your market. To out-compete chain tutoring services you need to design superior promotional materials and offer services that the chains don’t offer. For example you can promote your services by focusing on your willingness to come to the student instead of having to drive to a tutoring center. The key to attracting customers is to find an angle that makes your services more valuable than your competition and then promote the heck out of that angle.
If you offer GMAT tutoring services then you will want to focus your marketing materials on what you do to ensure your students pass this exam. You may want to talk about what steps you take to tutor students for this test, what materials you use or your students’ success rate. If you took this exam and did well, you may want to publicize your score. This can be a great way to attract new clients.
Do you have a promotional tip for tutoring services to use to get the word out? Post your ideas below.
