I have been focusing a lot on developing tutoring services. Today, however, I would like to talk about how a few fun science activities that you can use as a tutor to help your students understand science concepts or prepare for a science competition.
The first science activities that you can use to teach science concepts are science games. Science games can be designed to learn vocabulary words, formulas, the periodic table or other memory based science tasks. You can find a great selection of science games at your local learning store, or you can make them up yourself.
The second group of science activities that science tutoring and tutors can use to teach science concepts includes both science demonstrations and science experiments. When you are introducing a new concept you can use a science demonstration to show your student how the concept applies to real world situations. As your student develops their proficiency in the concept you can move on to science experiments.
The most successful private tutoring services are going to be the ones that engage their students in active learning and that make learning fun. You can develop a successful tutor by developing a repertoire of science games, demonstration and experiments that can be done in the classroom, in a tutoring center or in your student’s home. Read up on the latest experiments to keep your activity portfolio up-to-date.
Do you have tips for tutors to help them make learning more fun? Or do you have a tutoring question that you would like us to answer? Either way, post your comments and questions below in the comment box. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say.
