Last week we opened up a discussion on starting an online tutoring service. Today I’d like to continue this discussion by talking about how you can market your online tutoring services.
The first step in developing a marketing plan for your online business is to decide what services you want to offer, how much you want to charge and who you want to target as your primary student demographic. Some of the services that you can offer include: at home tutoring, online tutoring, phone tutoring and school tutoring. Prices for your services need to be competitive for your market and reasonable for the type of services you offer and how much experience you have. Finally, your target demographic needs to be a unique niche that will provide you with the best chances of filling all your tutoring slots.
After you have finished step one, your next step is to identify the best ways to market your services. I highly recommend a multi-facet approach, which uses both internet advertising options and traditional advertising options. To start with you will want to develop your internet marketing options. You can select form SEO techniques, keyword ads and banner ads. Traditional advertising options include things like print ads, radio ads, flyers, business cards and television ads.
Promoting tutoring services is pretty easy, however, it can get expensive. To minimize the amount of money that you spend promoting your online tutoring and tutors, you will need to do most of the leg work yourself. If you have a limited ad budget then SEO development and online tutoring marketing options are going to be your best options.

As we approach the tax deadline for the 2007 tax year, my thoughts naturally drift towards making a better living. One way that you can make a better living is by starting your own business. If you are a skilled tutor, then consider opening a tutoring business.
One type of tutoring business that you can open is an online tutoring service. In order to facilitation an online business you will need to start by developing a great website. This website will need to be easy to navigate through, it will need to provide potential students with everything that they need to know about your tutoring services, and it will need to provide students with a way to order your services or contact you. You may also want to develop a reference page that includes notes, tools and other educational materials that your students can use when they are working on their own.
After you have your website up and running, your next step will be to figure out a way to deliver your tutoring services online. The first way is to offer chat room tutoring. This type of tutoring service will be a Q&A style. Students will be able to log into your website, enter a chat room and ask questions about their homework or project. If you prefer a more visual online tutoring experience, then you will need to figure out a way to incorporate a live video feed from your office to your website.
Tutoring businesses can be very profitable. However, you need to know how to deliver your tutoring services to your students and what online tutoring and tutor tools are available to use.
